Katrina Puente, LCSW
/Title: Director of Client Navigation, Therapist
Intersecting identities that inform my practice: I identify as a mixed race white passing latinx able-bodied cis queer/pansexual woman.
Background & Approach: I graduated from Smith College with a Masters in Clinical Social Work. I use attachment based and intersectional lenses to understand and empower those I work with. I strive to recognize how the identities people hold influence their experience in the world. As a psychodynamically trained therapist, I use an insight oriented approach to help people gain awareness around how their early life experiences impact their relationships, emotions and sense of self. I have been working in the mental health field for 9 years with individuals, families and groups, am trained in EMDR, and have specialty training in working with LGBTQ populations. I am keen on supporting my clients in processing and growing from life’s challenges.
Theoretical & Clinical Orientation: Psychodynamic, attachment based, trauma informed, relational, using an intersectional and social justice lens
Licensure, Certifications, & Fellowships: LCSW
Education & Training:
M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work, Smith College School for Social Work
B.A. in Psychology, San Jose State University
Clinical Specializations: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained
Professional Service & Membership: National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
Outside of Work: I enjoy being outside, exploring new hiking trails or beautiful places near water when the weather is nice. During the winter I like spending time in cozy coffee or book shops and singing karaoke.
