Title: Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC.0020177)

Intersecting identities that inform my practice: I identify as a queer, non-binary, White, able-bodied person.

Background & Approach: My therapeutic approach is grounded in Attachment Theory, Multicultural Humility, and Relational Cultural Theory. I believe that nobody embodies only one identity, and everyone is unique and complex with multiple and overlapping identities. I am committed to embracing a philosophy of cultural humility that advocates against issues of racism, classism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia. I provide individual mentorship and counseling to support clients with self-acceptance, body neutrality, navigating the coming out process, overcoming internalized oppression, healing relational wounds, and cultivating holistic wellness.

Theoretical & Clinical Orientation: My approach to talk therapy is person-centered and strength-based using an intersectional and social justice lens. I incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Somatic Therapy.

Education & Training:

  • EdD, Sport Performance Psychology

  • MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Western States

  • ASIST certified

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) 20-Hr Training

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed 25-Hr Training (IFS Institute)

Professional Service & Membership: I hold active memberships with the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Outside of Work: As a former professional athlete and experienced performance consultant, I have worked extensively with elite athletes and teams on reducing performance anxiety, building confidence, navigating interpersonal conflict, overcoming performance obstacles, and building team cohesion through a social justice lens. I have served as an ongoing consultant for several LGBTQIA+ advocacy organizations including the Sport Equality Foundation, the Equality Coaching Alliance, Athlete Ally, and the Trevor Project. I live in Denver, CO with my wife and dog.
